Vintage Gold and Diamond Bypass Statement Ring
What an awesome ring this is! It was likely made in the late 1970s or 80s and is solid 14k gold. The weight is substantial (9.7 grams) and the quality is superb. The design consists of three individual "twisted" gold bands that sit tightly against one another and are discreetly soldered together at the back. Individually the bands measure approximately 2mm wide, and the measurement of all three together at the base of the shank is about 7.5mm. The three bands are set with a brilliant +/- .12 ct diamond on each end giving the ring a total diamond weight of approximately .72 ct. The stones are each held with four white gold prongs and are perfectly matched in color and clarity (estimated as G-H "near colorless" and VVS1). What makes this ring so fun and unique is the way in which each band slightly bypasses the next, creating a dramatic design as the diamonds align in a steep diagonal. The ring looks and feels like a very high-end designer piece of jewelry yet there is no maker's mark. Each band however is hallmarked "14k" on the inside. Currently a size 6. Please note: due to the nature of the twisty design of the bands, and the fact that this feature is continuous around the back, I do not recommend having the ring sized. It is certainly possible but sizing will have an impact on the twisting detail at the base of the shank. So keep that in mind!
