Beautiful Taxco 980 Silver Necklace, Circa 1940

225.00

This necklace, from the early 1940s, was made in Mexico using silver with 980 purity. It's an absolutely beautifully crafted piece with 16 identical panels which depict a traditional Aztec-style design. The natural patina remains, which very perfectly highlights the geometry of the design. Overall, the look and quality of the necklace is very reminiscent of pieces by Los Castillo and is quite possibly an unsigned example. The sterling spring ring appears to be an early replacement so there is a chance a signature might have been present on the original clasp. Nevertheless, it is a wonderful example of the high level of workmanship and design aesthetic that was prevalent in 1940s Taxco. The overall length is 15" so it will sit high along the collarbone for most. If you need extra length, just message me and we can discuss options
