1940s Sterling Silver Sailboat Chatelaine Brooch
This adorable chatelaine pin is solid sterling silver and dates to the 1940s. Chatelaine pins gained popularity in the 1930s and 40s and are just as fun today! They are quite versatile...in this instance you can pin both sailboats on one side of your garment and at varied heights with the chain creating a swag in between or you can pin one boat on either side of a sweater or scarf as a way to secure it or you can pin them down low at the waist of a dress...the possibilities are endless! Each pin is hallmarked "sterling" on the back and they've been washed in a pale rosy gold. The tiny flags and the hull of each boat is trimmed with tiny white rhinestones which adds a nice texture! Each boat is approximately 2-1/4" wide by 1-7/8" tall with the connecting chains measuring 6" and 6-3/4". The pin mechanism on each is secure and functions properly. From hinge to clasp each pin measures 1". This brooch is just really fun with great imagery a bit of whimsy! An excellent addition to any vintage collection!
