Simple Beauty! 1930s Sterling Bangle with Robin's Egg Blue Glass
This sterling bracelet is so lovely and simple yet with exceptional little details. It likely dates to the 1930s and is marked "sterling" on the back of the setting which holds the robin's egg blue glass cabochon. The glass stone is bezel set and flanked by matching feathery scrolls. The high and low points of the scrolls have a nice, natural patina which serves to highlight the delicate granular bead work. The balance of the bracelet is a simple oval tube of sterling which allows your focus to fall where it should. This bracelet was acquired from the estate of a 90 year old woman who evidently had excellent taste and world traveller's sophistication. From her collection I acquired several amazing pieces: some marked France, some marked Italy, and some from 1920s China. She sure must have incredible stories to tell!
The bracelet is in excellent condition, no dings or dents to speak of. The glass stone, including the bezel, measures 18.5mm by 14mm with the thickness of the bangle measuring approximately 3mm. The measurement of the opening of the oval is approximately 2-1/8" by 2-5/8" and will be a good fit for a wrist measuring between 6" and 7-1/4". Since it does not open, if you have any concerns about how it will fit you please just let me know! I'd be happy to help.
