Victorian Double Snake Ring in 15k Gold
This example of a Victorian era snake ring is one of the best I've seen! It's solid 15k yellow gold and is a stunning design which incorporates two intertwined snakes. Their remarkably attractive faces are nestled side by side as the focal point of the ring. Each snake displays a +/-.40ct old mine cut diamond and two faceted garnet eyes. If you pay close attention to their features you'll notice the lovely use of granulation. For example, the placement of the two beads that hold each garnet eye cleverly creates an elongated, more natural eye shape. The diamonds (L-M color and I clarity) are also set with beads that become part of a larger design detail. The snakes appear to each wrap twice around your finger which gives the ring it's 8mm width. Currently it measures as a size 6-1/4 but can be sized up or down upon request. Truly, this ring is quite beautiful. Antique snake rings are somewhat plentiful but to me this one rises above the others in the quality of the little details and the overall impressive appearance. It's a very sturdy, substantial piece weighing 8.1 grams.
