Never Used! Rex Fifth Avenue Pink Enameled Powder Compact, 1946
This huge, beautiful powder compact was never used! The perfect, peach puff inside has a satin Ribbon with the manufacturer's label...Rex Fifth Ave. I didn't know anything about this company so I did a quick search online for any history or information. And what I found was truly exciting! It was a 1946 magazine advertisement for the exact same compact!! (See the one in the model's hand!) What I then learned is that Rex Fifth Ave was known for enameling in bold colors and was recognized in their day for giant 4" compacts. And what we have here is exactly that: a brightly enameled 4" compact! So not only is this an ideal example but it's also in brand new condition. It's exceptionally clean and ready to go. The intent was to fill the shallow compartment with loose dusting powder and press it tight with the mesh sifter. The puff rests on top until you feel the need to powder your nose! These types of compacts are perfect for your purse or vanity but are a super smart accessory to keep at work. It'll likely get scuffed and a little worn if tossed in a purse so consider keeping it in or on your desk making it accessible throughout the day.
