1950s Opal Pendant Necklace, Mid Century Pin/Pendant
What an awesome piece of midcentury jewelry! This 14k white gold necklace necklace has so many design features to admire! First of all the shape is wonderful: it’s organic and asymmetrical yet very structured. It has strong lines with feminine details such as the delicate etched texture on the surface of the little extended leaves. Secondly, the opals! I love the varied shades of blue with assorted pink and purple undertones. The center stone is absolutely dreamy with its strong purple hue. The back of the piece is fitted with a 1” long pin mechanism which allows for flexibility in how you choose to wear it. In addition to the brooch option you can also position the chain in any way you like. The construction of the piece allows the chain to be fed through virtually anywhere and then back out again wherever you like. The versatility is fantastic! The white gold was rhodium plated which means it’s beautiful bright whiteness will stay with no need to polish or maintain. I’ve paired it with an 18” 14k chain which is included in the price. If you have no need for the chain please let me know and I’ll make that adjustment. The overall dimensions of the pendant/brooch are approximately 2” long by 1-1/4” wide at the widest point. It’s such a beautiful piece and what a great design!
