1940s Karu Victorian Revival Style Locket Necklace
This 40s locket was designed and made by Karu, one of the lesser known yet fantastic costume jewelry companies. The locket remarkably has remained with the original chain! The Karu signature is on the underside of the clasp which features the same "Peking jade" glass stone that is set prominently on the locket itself. There are also little coral glass cabochon accents on the locket and bale. The locket opens to accommodate 2 photos and appears to have never been used. The original plastic covers are still in place. The details on the front of the locket are wonderful and are reminiscent of the Victorian era...lots of texture and layers and even some patina!
The locket measures 1-3/4" long by 1-1/4 wide. The chain length is 16-1/4" including the clasp. Please note the metal is a brassy color with dark areas of patina. This was the intended look and what a look it is! It's a beautiful piece and relatively rare.
