1960s Italian 18k Fine Enamel Bird Brooch, Coral and Diamond Accents
This brooch is such a fun way to wear fine jewelry! Crafted in Italy in the 1960s using the finest materials (18k gold, brilliant cut diamonds and natural coral) this whimsical long-legged bird is just brimming with personality. Every one of his pointed feathers is artfully decorated with hand painted enamel in beautiful ombré shades of pink, blue, yellow, orange and green with naturalistic highlights and precise little details. His feathers are arranged in layers and curl outward slightly to provide a three dimensional effect. His entire wing is set with light salmon coral pieces with the edge highlighted by a row of twelve diamonds. He measures just over 3” tall and approximately 1-1/4” at the widest point. He is hallmarked on the back of his beak with Italian 18k marks that are specific to the 1960s. Hardly noticeable is one little fleck of green missing from the uppermost feather. Otherwise the quality and condition are exceptional. Especially appealing to any vintage brooch collector and certain to draw attention wherever you take him!
