1930s Frank Hess Style Flower Field Necklace
This playful 1930s necklace is such a great personification of happiness! The lucite blossoms are in the most wonderful shades of red, pink, peach, blue and yellow with many other colors in between. They were hand wired onto three perforated brass discs in a natural-looking “scattered” arrangement. The discs are slightly domed which provides two functions: a three dimensional effect in front and a shallow space to discreetly twist and tuck the ends of the brass wires. This design style and construction technique is in line with what Frank Hess was doing right around 1930. So it is possibly one of his pieces or perhaps made by a different jeweler who was simply inspired by Hess. Either way it’s really, really wonderful! The center medallion measures 1-1/4” across and the two outer medallions are 1-1/8” across. The full length of the necklace is 17-3/4”. It is all original and in excellent condition. A go-to piece for spring and summer!
