Extremely Rare Mid Century Gripoix Pâté de Verre Necklace and Earring Set
This set is INCREDIBLY rare! Since acquiring it I've done lots of research and have seen just a few versions of the necklace (some are a more recent re-issue of this design) but I have seen none with the matching earrings! Produced in France by Griproix in the pâté de verre technique, of which they were the masters. The set was likely made for the fashion house of Jacques Fath or Chanel. And either would speak to the quality and desirability of these pieces. The necklace is comprised of sixty-seven glass links and twenty glass coin dangles. The colors are the dreamiest ocean-like shades of aqua blue, cobalt blue, cornflower blue and "sea glass" green. The earrings are a clip-on "shimmy" style featuring many of the dangling glass coins and representing the exact colors in the necklace. The back of each earring is properly marked "FRANCE". The entire length of the necklace is 60.5" and it is finished off with a discreet spring ring clasp. The impressive length allows for a lot of versatility...a dramatic look by wearing it long or a fun, layered look by wearing it doubled or even tripled. The cluster shape of the earring measures approximately 1-3/4" long by 1-1/4" wide. The clip mechanism works beautifully, opening and closing with ease and holding securely when on your ear. Not only is this set extremely stylish and remarkably current but it's ridiculously rare!! This is an ideal addition to a designer jewelry collection or a smart purchase for anyone that admires the beauty and style of vintage costume jewelry. It'll instantly take your collection to the next level!
