Incredibly Rare 1920s Flapper Beaded Tassel Lariat
Wow!! This incredible 1920s lariat must be the most quintessential “flapper” necklace in existence! Entirely handmade, it was intricately woven using thousands of white satin glass beads with a geometric Art Deco pattern in contrasting hot pink, royal blue, pale sea green and red. The pattern terminates at each end with 11 strands of cut steel beads that merge to a singular Murano glass bead which serves as the decorative top of a gold and blue beaded tassel. The white satin glass beads reflect the light in such a mesmerizing way that simply cannot be captured in a photo! The necklace is 3/4” wide and measures an unbelievable 6’2” from the end of one tassel to the other. This impressive length allows for plenty of space to double or triple it around your neck to suit your taste. The condition is exquisite with not a single bead missing. I️ get lost in imagining how wonderfully fashionable and skillful the girl who made this must have been. She certainly put a great deal of time and care into it and she ought to have been very proud! It’s been taken good care of for all these years and although it is fit for a collector to display, it is absolutely wearable. The perfect addition to an Art Deco themed collection of any sort and particularly for anyone interested in Great Gatsby/Jazz Age era fashion. In fact this could quite possibly be a once in a lifetime opportunity to own such a beautiful example!
