Large Egyptian Revival Enamel Winged Scarab Brooch, Pristine Condition, Brightly Colored!
This early 20th Century brooch depicts a classic Egyptian Revival motif: the winged scarab. The popularity of this design soared after early archeological digs in Egypt brought such exotic notions to the mainstream. This particular example is very fine and unusually large. The wingspan measures 4-1/2” across and the bright enamel surface is pristine. Hallmarked on the back indicating 900 silver with another tiny mark nearby, possibly a maker but that is undetermined. A beautiful piece of jewelry with a strong, stunning presence!
