Egyptian Revival 22k Gold Micro Mosaic Scarab Pendant Necklace, Circa 1880
This incredible little mosaic is set in as grand a manner as it deserves. It is framed by an elaborate 22k gold mounting with dainty cannetille work, large opposing scrolls and wispy, pointed fringe. The pendant suspends from a petite gold button medallion with the same decorative treatment and a tiny smaller pendant below. The mosaic itself is remarkably preserved with every minuscule tesserae in its place. The widest part of the framework measures approximately 7/8” across. The entire pendant from top to bottom measures 1-7/8” not including the 1/8” exposed bale. For the photos I’ve paired the pendant with a contemporary 18” 14k gold chain which can be purchased separately. Other chains are available if needed so please just inquire to see what I have or to describe what you’d like. This is a truly wonderful antique that somehow seems very fresh and modern. A very wearable piece that should blend seamlessly into any jewelry wardrobe!
