Gorgeous Simple Chrysoprase Bangle with Rose Cut Diamond Halo 14k Gold
This bracelet, in it's clean and simple design, perfectly showcases one of my favorite gemstones: chrysoprase. The stone was cut and polished into an exaggerated cabochon and set with an elegant rose cut diamond halo. The side of the mounting is encircled with a simple geometric pattern of zig zags and dots that adds just the right amount of decoration. The 1.5mm tubular bangle forms a slight oval and terminates at the base in a brief bypass and two tightly wound coils. This design feature is quite clever in that the coils are open just enough to glide back and forth, allowing you to manually flex the bangle slightly for your hand to pass through. The coils then return to their original position. Furthermore, the weight of the two coils brilliantly balances the weight of the mounted stone on top. This serves to keep the bracelet upright versus turning, preventing the pretty part from ending up underneath your wrist. Smart, simple and beautiful! There are no hallmarks present but the gold tests strongly as 14k. I generally like being able to say with confidence how old a piece of jewelry is but this one has stumped me. It may be 20s, it may be 60s or it could possibly be more recent. Without hallmarks of any sort and no similar designs to compare it to I'd rather state that the age is uncertain. It is however a very well made piece, very strong and sturdy and in beautiful condition. It looks great worn alone but the simplicity of the design makes it a good contender for the layered look! The measurement of the mounting that contains the halo and chrysoprase is 16mm across with a depth of 11mm from the bottom to the top of the cabochon. The inner dimension of the bracelet is 2-1/2" left to right and 2" top to bottom. The best fit will be a wrist that measures between 6" and 7".
