Enamel and Lavender Jade Bird Pendant, Circa 1920
This adorable little silver bird is so highly detailed and so beautifully colored in glosssy, bright enamel. His colors are canary yellow, black, lavender and green. The technique, quality and style of the enamel work gives me confidence to classify him as "Chinese Export" from the 1920s. An added (and uncommon!) detail is that his body is a solid, smooth piece of lavender Jade! Lavender Jade is often seen incorporated into jewelry but I've never seen it used in such a whimsical and creative way. And it certainly adds to the already wonderful personality of this little bird! He measures approximately 1-1/4" tall and approximately 1/2" at his widest point. He is fitted with a simple 1/4" bale at the top through which I've run a 22" 1950's gold tone chain. Therefore it's not the original pairing but a suitable one. If you prefer the chain to be shorter or longer just let me know. I can make an adjustment for no additional charge.
