Byzantine Inspired Midcentury 14k Lapis Statement Ring
Wow! This ring is just incredible! The design has unmistakable Byzantine influences and was thoughtfully crafted with apparently every angle in mind. The focal point is a beautiful, large lapis cabochon (18mm by 12mm) which is held in place with 16 claw-like prongs. Surrounding the lapis is a dramatic frame of gold which loops around like a heavy ribbon encompassing four small turquoise accents. The gallery is carved with large geometric openings which provide a necessary airiness beneath the stone. And finally, one of my favorite details is the ornately carved shoulders: like a flower blooming between two opposing scrolls! All of these elements combine to create a magnificent and wearable work of art! The are no hallmarks present but the gold tests appropriately as 14k. Currently the ring measures as a size 8 on the mandrel and can be sized up or down upon request.
