Dramatic Vintage 14k Amethyst Ring with Enamel Stars
This ring is truly unique! I've struggled for a while with pinpointing it's era so have concluded that it must be a marriage of two different time periods...and the combination works so well!! Based on my experience, I believe the quatrefoil mounting is from the 1950s or 1960s while the ribbon-like centerpiece is from around 1900. The glossy black enameled stars on each of the ribbon loops are my most favorite detail and they really speak to the Victorian era. Set centrally between two sparkling diamonds is a stunning, deep purple amethyst. All of the elements (a rich purple stone, six enamel stars and a dramatic gold setting with diamonds) combine to give the ring a very regal appearance. It's makes for a very elegant statement ring as it measures an impressive 23mm north to south and 20mm wide. The profile of the ring is quite wonderful as the ribbon loops are three dimensional. The shank was left rather simple with a deep, tapered groove being the only detail on each shoulder. The mounting was designed with a nice contour on the underside so it sits very comfortably on your finger. The highest point of the ring is the amethyst which sits approximately 9.5mm high. There are no hallmarks present but the gold does test as 14k. Currently the ring measures 7.5 and can be sized up or down upon request. This ring is really something special. With layers upon layers of detail and very beautifully crafted you'll undoubtedly never see another one like it!
