Ethereal Art Nouveau European Gold Lavaliere Necklace
This necklace! It has such an ethereal beauty! It dates to the turn of the last century, circa 1900, and was designed to exhibit the flowing, naturalistic lines of the Art Nouveau aesthetic. It has a European hallmark on the back which indicates the gold is 9k (very common gold purity used in England during this period). The design of the necklace has a slight resemblance to a fleur-de-lis and is just so elegant with its gentle curves and fine lines. The natural pearls which fill the front are graduated in size so that they may taper and fit snugly within the shapes. There are two bezel set Vaseline glass stones which are an incredible sour green color. They are an amazing contrast to the soft color palette of the pearls...unexpected and utterly cool! The left and right uppermost points of the pendant each connect to one more little pearl which then connects to the chain. The overall length of the necklace is approximately 17-1/3". The pendant has a drop length of 1-3/8" from the uppermost central pearl to the base of the dangling stone. All the pearls are present and overall the necklace is in remarkable condition! Without a doubt this would make a stunning bridal necklace or simply a nice addition to any Art Nouveau jewelry collection. It's a very wearable piece of jewelry from an oh-so-rare category!
