Antique Russian "Moi et Toi" Diamond Ring, Circa 1890
This double stone design (often referred to as "moi et toi") was wildly popular in the late 19th century and in fact that is when this gorgeous little ring was made. It is hallmarked on the outer base of the shank to indicate it was made in St. Petersburg, Russia. The date is likely between 1880 and 1900 and the gold tests strongly as 14k. The two Old European cut diamonds are each approximately .33ct and both are estimated to be near colorless (G-H) and to have VS2 clarity. And let me tell you, they sparkle unbelievably! The life and brilliance contained in these two diamonds is like nothing you'll see in a modern stone. The profile of the ring is nice and low, making it very comfortable and well suited for daily wear. Without question, the timeless symbolism of "me and you" is just as meaningful today as it was over 100 years ago. The sentiment of the design makes this a beautiful choice for an engagement ring for anyone who prefers an antique and something a little bit different. In fact, the "me and you" concept is so perfect for celebrating any relationship between two people that it would also be a thoughtful anniversary gift! Yet no matter the occasion, this ring is nothing short of a beautiful, timeless antique that you'll be proud to own! Currently it measures as a 7 on the mandrel and can be sized up or down upon request.
