Antique Ceylon Sapphire Bypass Ring, Elaborately Carved 14k
These large, shimmery sapphires are perhaps the prettiest shade of periwinkle blue: both cool and calm and utterly gorgeous! They are each approximately 1.50ct and their origin has been confirmed as Ceylon. They are beautifully set in what may be the most ornately carved ring I've had the pleasure of selling! The bypass design has the sapphires sitting side-by-side at a slight angle with their decoratively pierced collets gently touching in between. The shank, slightly domed, is deeply carved all the way around with the most elaborate pattern of billowy twirls that meets symmetrically at the base where there is a tufted diamond-shape detail. The quality of the carving and the overall beauty of the design nearly steals the show from the extraordinary sapphires. Yet ultimately they work hand in hand to create this completely sensational ring! Quietly twinkling on either side of the sapphires are two little diamonds. The inside of the shank is silky smooth and very comfortable. Each sapphire, including its surrounding bezel, measures 7mm wide (north to south). At the shoulders the shank measures 4mm wide and tapers very gradually to 3mm at the base. The height of the stones as the rise above your finger is 4mm. Currently the ring measures as a 6-1/2 on the mandrel. However, due to the nature of the design it fits a variety of sizes quite comfortably. For example, my ring finger on my left hand is a 6 while my ring finger on my right hand is a 7...and the ring fits both nicely! I do not recommend sizing this ring so if you have any questions about fit please just let me know. I'd be happy to help!
