Antique Old Mine Cut Diamond Solitaire Engagement Ring
There is something really special about this ring. At the risk of sounding overly romantic, I'm going to say that it must have been loved a great deal by its previous owner and thus I imagine it was part of a long and happy marriage!
It dates to around 1910 and the diamond is an absolutely stunning +/- .28ct Old Mine cut that is extraordinarily white and clean (F, VVS). It has a small to medium culet and a relatively high crown (my favorite feature of old mine cuts!) The brilliance of this stone is undeniable. In dim or bright lighting it sparkles from every angle with exceptional fire. The center diamond is bezel set in silver and flanked by three old mine cuts on each shoulder, also set in silver. The shank is 14k yellow gold and measures 2mm at the shoulder and gradually narrows to 1mm at the base. When you look very closely at the ring you can see the evidence which brought me to the conclusion that it was loved for many years. There's a good deal of character in the subtle irregularities and patina which give the ring an almost ancient impression. In my opinion, these characteristics are not imperfections but rather unique and natural qualities that make this ring perfectly suited for anyone that appreciates history, admires antiquities and wants something other than a cookie cutter engagement ring. It has a quiet and simple elegance with a low profile which is ideal for everyday wear. As you can probably tell, I truly love this ring! And I imagine the next recipient will love it as well! Currently it is a size 6-1/2 and can be sized up or down upon request.
